Technology

The MCS Technology Department works hard to provide excellent technical support and training. We strive to ensure students and teachers receive the best technology equipment and software available. We are always looking for new ideas to assist teachers in their classrooms and help students be prepared to use technology for life after they graduate. The Technology Department consists of a Technology Coordinator, three Technology Technicians, and a Technology Coach.
 
The Technology Department has taken pride in our district's network infrastructure for many years. Currently the Technology department supports a wide range of technology devices, software and security. In the past 10 years, we have implemented a successful 1:1 program (3,000 Chromebooks), 300 touch screen interactive panels, 6th generation wireless network, outdoor wireless, HD security camera system, access control doors, teacher laptop 1:1 program, 350 iPads, manage advance internet security compliance devices, vape detection devices (HALO), Highland phone system (VOIP), computer STEM labs, 3D printers, e-Sports, e-Glass devices, Advance Printing Management Service (Epson copiers), TV signage, Image Design & Creation. 
 
Additional Information: 
Internet: Increased Internet broadband network from 1 gbps to 3.2 gbps, 10GB fiber backbone from IDF to MDF, 10 gbps fiber between all locations. 
Software and Services: PowerSchool (Student Information System), ClassLink (Single-SignOn and App tracking), Zoom for Distance Learning, Schoology (Student Learning Management System), Inventory Asset Tracking, Online Testing and a variety of other programs offered throughou the district

Training and Teacher Support Software: MobileMind, Frontline (Absence Management, Professional Growth and Recruiting and Hiring), Navigate 360, Neptune Navigate, Classwize

Online Security and Safety: Managed Methods, Threat Down and Scinary with advance internet security compliance devices, Linewize filter. 
Social Media Managment: Edlio (website host), District and School facebook pages
Servers: 20 virtual servers hosted on 4 servers, Hosting Horizon (cafeteria) computer management (SCCM), DHCP, DNS, AD, Back-up servers, Print servers, wireless management server (Airwave), HVAC server, Network monitoring, update server (WSUS), 9 camera security servers, access control server
MCS Phone System: 60 month contract with Highland Communications to install a new phone system. 400 phones and 100 bull horns/PA speakers in the system
Technology Coach: Works closely with teachers across the district by training and supporting teachers as they implement district technology into their classrooms. She schedules appointments throughout the school year to visit with teachers in their classrooms and provides training as needed. She also works with district supervisors to plan and facilitate inservice and PD opportunities across the district. Other responsibilities are: 
  • Managing all district/school social media accounts
  • Maintaining the district website and supporting school website teams
  • Managing MobileMind (teacher inservice and PD)
  • Managing Frontline Professional Growth & Recruiting and Hiring
  • First round of support for a variety of digital platforms
  • Computer Science District Delegate & district liason for Computer Science implementation
  • Implements Digital readiness skills and tracks digital citizenship curriculum
